ANIMAL CHIC - THE INFINITE CLASSIC?
February 08, 2019
Well, the dreaded January is over, and we're so happy that it is - is it just us or did it last like 100 days?! We're kicking our February posts off with a fashion chat because so far this year we've just posted cake and we like to mix it up a bit. This does mean that there's unlikely to be a Valentine's baking post BUT make sure you check out these Chocolate and Raspberry Biskies and this Love at First Bite selection if that's what you're missing. Anyway, on with the post...
Question 1: When will animal print go out of style, if ever?
Question 2: Do you think animal print will always be chic even if it's not the massive trend it is now?
We've had those questions in our heads for a while now - especially with our wardrobes (and surely many of yours) still filling up with more and more animal print pieces. The animal print trend has been going for a while now and while the animal has changed from leopard to snake to zebra, it is definitely STILL going! Who knows, maybe this is it for a while; even if the trend slows down there's no reason that it can't still be a style staple. One thing is for sure, with Fashion Month just starting - kicked off today by the incredible New York Fashion Week - we're definitely about to find out.
And in the unfortunate event that this is the end for animal print (I suppose a leopard can change it's spots after all), at least we've got the summer to enjoy it. Preferable in as many ways as possible!
Our outfits below are an example of our fave ways to wear it. On completely different ends of the scale we have the chic flowing print and while it's still cold, the wild chunky knit jumper.
Jumper - M&S
Jamie Jeans - Topshop
Boots - Office
Earrings and Hair Scarf (different print) - Topshop
Bag - River Island
I'm probably more known for wearing colour, and almost always the most colourful amongst friends. But let's be real here, a monochrome outfit will never go amiss. And truthfully it's not completely monochrome with the fun contrast yellow trim. This jumper is THE cosiest and so perfect for the cold weather we are having. It's such an easy throw on statement piece and is great for everyday wear paired with jeans or a pleated skirt.
Another new favourite in this post is these boots - and they are still on sale for £38 instead of £69 (woo!). I absolutely love the lace up front and hi-shine of this chunky boot. Aaaand they are honestly the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Straight from the first wear they have just been a dream to wear. I can't wait to style these with skirts and dresses for an edgy addition to a usual 'pretty' outfit.
Skirt - Tophop
Jumper - Newlook
Bag - River Island
How many pleated midis can I buy before it becomes ridiculous? I sincerely hope the answer is that you can never have too many... because my collection is not stopping here. They are honestly my style staple, they are just so easy to wear and extremely flattering! Especially for a gal with knee insecurities like myself...
Snake print is one of my favourites of the animal prints right now and I absolutely adore this mint green one from Topshop. The pastel shades are perfect for bringing a little brightness to the gloomy winter and are 100% going to take me right through the summer! Right now I am loving wearing this skirt with this cosy, chunky jumper but as soon as the temperatures start to rise it will be perfect with a light tee or a cami.
Speaking of the jumper, I absolutely love this roll neck from New look. The slightly cropped/boxy shape make it ideal for wearing with skirts and this cream goes with essentially all of mine!
Whilst finding the link for this jumper for you guys I found that the jumper comes in soooo many colours, including a few neons (hello latest amazing trend)! Whilst I'm hoping I won't be wearing jumpers for too much longer, I think I may need this in a couple of other shades!
Who else is loving neon right now? If you're too scared to go full neon just yet, neon nails is the perfect way to dip your toe in (or fingers). I can't get enough of super bright nails, I've been through orange, pink and yellow over the past couple of weeks!
We hope you liked this post!
