SPRING SKIRT STYLE
April 26, 2019
There's been a lot of baking posts recently so we wanted to make sure we weren't neglecting the other side of the blog, fashion - although it seems to be the other way round on Instagram (shameless plug - @sharkettsisters)
So, who has enjoyed having a nice four day week for the past two weeks? We certainly have, even though missing a day makes those four days so much more busier; cramming an extra days work in somewhere. But the bank holiday was definitely worth it, right? Glorious sunshine brings out the best in us all but add on an extra two whole days and we are ecstatic!
The dazzling sunshine sent us and apparently half of London for a fun day at the seaside. Brighton was bustling, and the beach was packed but we had the best day spending as much time as possible in the sun, with the soundtrack of crashing waves in the background. Our day mainly consisted of stopping to grab a drink or a sweet treat every 5 minutes but isn't that what Easter Bank Holidays are for?! We picked up lunch from The Flour Pot Bakery to eat in the Pavilion Gardens, ate ice cream on the beach, grabbed a rosé and a slice of cake outside The Sugardough Bakery, and ate our evening meal at who make the most amazing pizzas. As well as a few more drinks along the way, we lounged on deck chairs on the pier and lost a few too many 2p's on the classic 2p pushers in the arcade, and it was an amazing way to spend a Good Friday off work.
Anyway, back to the point of the post...
As you will all definitely know, we are big fans of a midi skirt, big, huge. And low and behold, skirt season is back upon us! I mean, you can technically wear them through deep winter it's just a different, much colder story. Skirts are the perfect lighter, airier option for the spring and are the best way to diversify your bottoms wardrobe for the coming seasons. And they especially make a great addition to the work wear wardrobe too.
Finally, it's time to put those skinny black jeans back to the back of your wardrobe - the new style season is here!
Skirt - River Island
White T-Shirt - Oasis
Sandals - Topshop (last season - but new season here)
Necklaces - Anna Saccone & Missoma
Bag - Topshop
Hair Scarf - Accessorize
If you can't get a floral skirt out in spring then when can you? I love the floral and spotty mixed print on this skirt, it's a great way to introduce florals into your wardrobe without it being too much. Especially if you're not usually a floral kind of person. The skirt is a mesh fabric which is partially lined (at a mini skirt length) making it perfect for the warm weather - which has already disappeared again for now. The two splits up the side give it an extra summery feel which is fab, and will make sure I wear it all the way through summer as well as spring. And since it's still a midi, it doesn't feel to short or showy for around the office. Perfect.
It's always easiest to pair a patterned skirt with a plain white top, but adding a detail to the outfit, like the leopard the sandals and hair tie, makes an outfit your own. I love how I manage to get leopard to work with pretty much every outfit these days, it's almost become a neutral in my wardrobe. Although this post is all about the skirts, I absolutely cannot finish without mentioning this bag. I picked it up in Topshop on Thursday evening and have not put it down since. It's everything I ever wanted in a wooden bag (strangest phrase every written), and missing out on a few like this last year, I knew I had to have this one the second I saw it. I love love love the black rope grab handles, as well as the shoulder strap for everyday use. The shape and design is just amazing too, I just basically can't praise it enough!
What bags have you got your eyes on for spring/summer? As a real bag fiend, I'd love to know!
Skirt & Top - H&M
Sunglasses & Bag - Accessorize (last year)
Sandals - Topshop
How pretty is this H&M skirt? Ruffles, sheer fabric and a pretty pastel floral print make for a gorgeous combo and one of my favourite new spring additions to my wardrobe! I just love the pretty tiered ruffles and the sheer bottom layer. H&M have some incredible new pieces in store right now, we seem to keep finding ourselves pulled inside just by the amazing stuff in the windows!
Topshop was my go to choice for sandals last summer and it seems like this year will be no different. They have brought back our favourite criss-cross sandals from last year in a variety of new colours which we are both thrilled by and have already re-purchased. But these new tan sandals are definitely my new favourite! First of all, they are SO comfy, the real leather straps are super soft so no blisters! They also come in quite a lot of different colours and prints and I am very tempted to buy another pair...unless this glorious weekend was the start and end of our summer!
