THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY
April 09, 2018
Hey friends! We hope you had lovely weekend!
We had an absolutely beautiful weekend in Abersoch, Wales but if you follow us on Instagram, then you will know that we visited the Royal Observatory in Greenwich a good few weeks ago. Somehow, between then and now we managed to lose the memory card - don't worry we found it! - and the post lost it's place in our schedule. So, before the weather gets warmer (fingers crossed!) and our big coats start to look out of place, we thought we would just slot this post in here.
We just couldn't miss out on the chance to show you these absolutely beautiful views of the big city, and this gorgeous place! A tube ride from West London to Greenwich feels pretty much like you're on your way to the end of the earth but it turns out it's worth it, don't you think?
The Observatory is something a little different to your average London day out and we absolutely loved it! The observatory and its surroundings are nothing if not photogenic. The Queen's House at the bottom of the hill boasts its regal aesthetic in the way of columns and perfect princess-worthy steps. A great place to grab a few Instagram's by the way, and practice your princess walk down the stairs - you just never know when you might need it!
Quite a steep walk up the hill, and you get the observatory itself; home of the Prime Meridian of the world, Greenwich Mean Time and a chance to explore space in the Planetarium. The chance to stand on the Meridian Line does come at a cost but there's something incredible about standing on the line where east meets west and taking your place (and picture) at the centre of the world!
We would definitely recommend a visit to the observatory. The history of GMT, and world-changing clocks was actually really interesting and we just couldn't stop taking pictures of the view.
