CHRISTMAS COCKTAILS
December 18, 2016
Can you believe we're so close to Christmas, where has December gone? Where has the year gone?!
While we're full of Christmas spirit, we have decided to try some super festive cocktails, that are beautiful and delicious! We have a Blackberry Ombre Sparkler, a Christmas Cranberry Mojito and an Apple Jingle. We can't take all the credit though, we found the ideas on Pinterest and followed them here, here and here.
First, we decided to make these cute cranberry ice cubes, so if you want to do this make sure to plan ahead and make these the day before. Just pop some cranberries into an ice cube tray, top up with water, and freeze!
Blackberry Ombre Sparkler
Ingredients:
(This makes around 4 drinks)
1 cup fresh blackberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 sprigs fresh rosemary
1 bottle prosecco/champagne
First, make the blackberry syrup by placing the blackberries, sugar and water into a small saucepan, and bringing to the boil on a high heat. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and let cook for approx. 15 minutes. By this time you will have a bright pinky red syrup. Take it off the heat and drain the blackberries, pouring the syrup into a jug. Set aside the syrup and blackberries (only if you fancy using them later) and allow to cool.
Ingredients:
(This makes a jug of Mojito)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh mint and extra for garnish
2 limes, sliced
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup cranberries and extra for garnish
1 cup white rum
1/2 cup cranberry juice
soda water
crushed ice
Add the sugar and mint into a jug and muddle together. Then add the slices of one lime and the cranberries. Pour in the lime juice, cranberry juice and rum, and stir to dissolve the sugar. Fill to the top with soda water. Fill your glasses with crushed ice, or your cranberry ice made earlier and pour in your Mojito. Garnish with cranberries, mint and a slice of lime.
Ingredients:
(This makes 1 drink)
2 shots of gin, chilled
250ml of Appletiser original, chilled
ice cubes
cinnamon stick
apple slices
lime slices
This is super quick and easiest of them all. Pour the gin into a glass, and top with Appletiser, add the ice cubes, cinnamon stick and apple slice. Gently squeeze the lime on top and then add to the drink.
These are all very quick and easy to make, and look super festive for the Christmas period. They can all be changed around a bit to make them an all year round drink, just take out the christmassy tastes and add in a summer taste like mint or fruits.
