OUR MET GALA TOP 10

May 05, 2016

This week was the most important night in fashion, the Met Gala. It's the Oscars of the fashion world where the stars can go all out with their fashion choices! This years theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. It saw some incredible designs take to the red carpet and we thought we'd share our top 10!
So in no particular order...

Blake Lively in a chiffon Burberry gown.
Blake looked absolutely flawless as always; she can do no wrong in our eyes! The dress didn't really go with the theme but we were too busy looking through heart eyes to care!
The Lorraine Schwartz earrings are gorgeous and the perfect accessory to this beautiful dress.
We think she looks absolutely stunning and the look it of one of the very top of our top 10!

Taylor Swift in a Louis Vuitton dress.
Taylor was one of the co-chairs at this years Met and we thought she definitely stepped up to the plate in this dress! If you've seen any videos of this dress in action you will have seen how amazingly sparkly and shimmery it really is! We love the strappy shoes as they are such a statement. (And we do really love the new rock look of Taylors, but can't help but miss the blonde curls, winged liner and red lips with the beaded fringed dresses and cowboy boots!)

Allison Williams in a bespoke Peter Pilotto gown.
At first glance, this gown doesn't look to fit too much with the technological theme, but in fact it uses the newest of technologies. The dress was adorned with 3D-printed white flowers! This was a head-turning glamourous gown in a lovely, shimmery blue with a stunning long train. It was also beaded with Swarovski crystals and who wouldn't love that?!

Claire Danes in a Zac Posen gown.
This was the gown that literally lit up the red carpet.
Claire looked like a real life Cinderella on the red carpet. This is the kind of dress that is every girls dream to wear! It was hand crafted from organza and fibre optics. This magical dress is the perfect interpretation of this years theme if you ask us!
We are in love with Zac Posen and the structure and draping he puts into all his gowns, and this is the perfect example!

Jourdan Dunn in a Balmain gown.
This is classic Balmain which we are both big lovers of!
We think Jourdan really stood out with this silver, futuristic gown which fell beautifully in-line with the Gala theme. This dress is unbelievably shiny and metallic which is all down to the thousands of intricate beads. The sheer side cutouts and well placed lines draw attention to her super tiny waist and really flatter her amazing figure. Complementing her gown, she wore a flawless silver, shimmery, smokey eye.
We think it was a real showstopper look!

Karlie Kloss in a Brandon Maxwell gown.
So, first of all, LIGHT UP BAG! Yes, really, the bag lights up. The amazing gold Lisa Perry Scintillator light up clutch was the perfect accessory to the sleek, clean-cut dress. Karlie arrived in a high-collared overcoat, which she soon removed to reveal the simple but detailed dress with daring cut-outs. Then, for the after-party, Karlie and designer of the dress Brandon Maxwell transformed the floor-grazing dress into a minidress (to remove a wine stain) simply by chopping off the bottom with a pair of scissors!
That one dress had a lot to give and we loved it!

Kate Hudson in an Atelier Versace gown
and £8 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery! (WHAT?)
We thought Kate looked amazing in this white cut-out gown. We're not sure exactly what it's actually made of but it looks like some kind of plastic material which gives a nod to the theme, it almost looks like it could be made of paper! The structured bodice is made of lots of different panels with daring cut-outs and embellished with silver studs.

Naomi Campbell in a couture Roberto Cavalli gown.
This black embellished gown is fairly simple in comparison to a lot of looks on the red carpet but it is incredibly chic and looks absolutely stunning on Naomi! The sparkly, panelled, cut-out look was certainly a big trend on the night with a lot of the stars opting for this style but Naomi still stood out from the crowd in this gorgeous Cavalli dress.

Poppy Delevingne in a Marchesa dress.
Marchesa never disappoints in our opinion and this dress is no exception! This semi sheer, ornately embellished dress looked absolutely beautiful on Poppy. She oozed 20's glamour with the gorgeous tiered fringing and plunging neckline. We definitely think this one is very worthy of our top 10!

Alexa Chung in a custom made Thakoon tuxedo.
We loved how Alexa sparkled in this glamorous, sequined tuxedo!
This is a super chic and original look and takes a laid-back but luxurious feel with the loose cropped trouser accentuated at the waist with a silk, rope tie.
Alexa never disappoints with her effortless style, so it's no surprise to us that she has won British Style Icon three years running at the British Fashion Awards!

Thankyou for reading our post!
There were so many other amazing designs on show on the red carpet but these were our absolute faves! There weren't many stars that actually hit the technology theme on the head but they were beautiful none the less!
We always love looking through all the photos from the Met Gala and we've loved sharing our favourites with you!
